AWWA C-302 Non-Cylinder Reinforced Concrete Pressure
Pipe is used for low head transmission lines in which the
maximum operating pressure will not exceed 380 kPa (55psi). Non-cylinder
concrete pressure pipe is recommended for:
- water intakes
- gravity sewers (sanitary or storm)
- outfall sewers
- low pressure sewage forcemains
- siphons
- treatment plant piping

This superior pipe is best suited where the operating
conditions require zero infiltration and exfiltration, vacuum conditions,
and/or, where poor ground conditions exist.
"Standard pipe" refers to straight
sections of C-302 which are manufactured in nominal lengths, typically
7.315m (24ft), 6.096m (20ft) and 4.877m (16ft). This type of concrete
pipe does not require a steel cylinder, but has one or more reinforcing
cages. It incorporates welded steel bell and spigot joint rings
encased in the concrete wall of the pipe.
The accurately sized high grade steel joint rings with volumetrically
sized rubber gasket
is designed to ensure water tightness, ease of installation, flexibility
with ground movement and long service life. The joint rings have
a zinc-metallized protective coating which, with the grouting of
the completed joint in the field, provides a very high resistance
to corrosion.
Hyprescon manufactures C-302 from 750mm (30in) to 3660mm (144in) diameters
at the Uxbridge and Stouffville facilities.
