Both fittings and pipe sections can be fabricated
to accommodate various types and sizes of outlets, such as branch
lines, hydrants, manholes, blowoffs, and air relief valves. To preserve
the strength of the pipe wall in the outlet area, additional reinforcement
may be required such as reinforcing bands, saddles, or collars.
The size and thickness of this reinforcement is a function of the
operating pressure and diameter of the pipeline, as well as the
size of the outlet. Reinforcing bands are continuous around the
circumference of the steel cylinder permitting more than one outlet
at the same location.
All outlets are located by referencing the distance
from the centerline of the outlet to the spigot end of the pipe.
Outlet locations vary along the pipe section, however minimum distance
from joint rings must be maintained. Hyprescon provides
specific paint markings on the outside of the pipe for all outlet
types (refer to Hyprescon's Prestressed Concrete Pressure Pipe Installation
Manual). Tangent outlets, outlets with branch angled to the
main (wye), different joint styles, as well as longer branch laying
lengths are available upon request. Outlet diameters greater than
two sizes smaller than main are manufactured as tees.
Threaded outlets up to 75mm (3in.) in diameter
are available at any intermediate position along the pipe section
for both LCP and ECP. Both Iron Pipe Threaded (I.P.T.) and Corporation
Tapered Threaded (C.T.T.) are available in a variety of diameters
(see Chart below).
