The drinking water section of the Ontario Ministry
of the Environment issued a revised bulletin in January 2001 regarding
chlorinating and contact time of potable water supplies (Procedure
B13-3, Section 2.1). Most other provinces have adopted similar standards.
A solution to this new drinking water standard
is Hyprescon's inline-mixing chamber or Chlorine Contact Tank (CCT),
which can provide the required contact time (please contact us for
tank sizing). The diameter and length of the chamber are based on
the available pump rate, site restrictions, and a minimum required
chlorine contact time. The contact tank is designed to the working
pressure of the existing or new distribution system and will be
shipped "ready to install" with all the corrosion protective
properties of concrete. Perforated inlet and outlet branches, as
well as, perforated intra-basin baffles are located in the chamber
to prevent short-circuiting and ensure complete mixing. This perforated
branch/baffle system represents a "superior" baffling
condition (T10/T ratio of 0.7).
Please note that it is Hyprescon's recommendation
that the owner/consultant seek MOE approval of each Chlorine Contact
Tank prior to manufacture and installation.
